Have a Play-date with Container Projects in Medina

OSU Master Gardener Volunteers’ Annual Spring Seminar will have Kids Playing in the Dirt

Spring has arrived!  Consider bringing your kids (ages 6 – 12 years old) to the OSU Master Gardener Volunteers’ Annual Spring Seminar to start thinking about gardening! This year’s theme will be all about kids doing container projects in the dirt.

The program entitled “A Play-date in the Dirt,” is scheduled for SundayMay 3, 2015, 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. at Krabill Park Shelter, 7597 Ballash Rd., Medina, OH 44256 thanks to support of the Medina County Park District.

Parents can bring their kids to this year’s program for some interactive, hands-on gardening.  Volunteers are hosting two “make-and-take” stations: Pizza Gardens and Tiny Treasure Gardens.  Kids will receive containers to plant in, seeds, a plant, and a treasure rock all to take and grow at home.

Both parents and children can participate in the nature-themed scavenger hunt that will have kids sleuthing for items while parents get helpful garden tips for their home gardens.  The program is planned with outdoor and indoor activities, weather permitting, so please dress accordingly.

SPACE IS LIMITED.  Pre-registration is required with payment.  No walk-ins please. Cost is $5.00 per participating child.  Parental or adult supervision is REQUIRED for the duration of the program.  Registration forms can be found online at medina.osu.edu under events.

To receive a copy of the flier by mail or email, or if you have questions, please call 330-725-4911, Extension 106.  Registration deadline is April 20 or until class is full.
