Coshocton and Roscoe Village: There’s Something Special Here

Historic Roscoe Village is a restored 1800s village that was once a bustling port along the Ohio and Erie Canal. It is now is home to delightful shops, restaurants and tours of the historic buildings where visitors get to interact with traditional artisans, meet an 1800s doctor, visit the village blacksmith, and participate in an old-fashioned one-room school lesson. Additional seasonal themed tours are also available during the fall and holidays.

Everyone loves meeting Rock & Fred and Willie & Bill, the huge draft horse teams that pull the Monticello III Horse-Drawn Canal Boat along an original section of the Ohio and Erie Canal. Travelers on the 45-minute canal boat ride are entertained by the Canal Boat Captain as he explains 1800s life on the canal with tall tales and history ~ creating the feeling of actually gliding right into the 1830s.

Coshocton is also home to the Three Rivers Wine Trail – five local wineries in unique settings including Raven’s Glenn Winery, Shawnee Springs Winery, Heritage Vineyard Winery, Rainbow Hills Winery and Yellow Butterfly Winery.  And don’t forget the cheese!  Watch the production of award-winning cheeses and then sample them at Pearl Valley Cheese Factory.  Or stop at Unusual Junction for a complete selection of Amish-made and other locally produced cheese and Trail Bologna.
