Signature Attractions Welcome You for the Holidays in Tuscarawas County


Tuscarawas County, just 90 miles south of Cleveland, is home to several signature attractions that have become traditions for locals and visitors alike.

In Dover, the JE Reeves Victorian Home celebrates Christmas by decorating each of the 17 rooms of the home as the Dover Historical Society welcomes visitors from November 11 through December 22, 2016. Regular guided tours are offered daily 1pm-7pm (closed Thanksgiving Day). www.doverhistory.org

Visitors can experience all the joy and cheer the season has to offer with a visit of historic Zoar Village and the annual Christmas in Zoar event. Musical entertainment, a juried craft show, historical demonstrations, a Saturday church service and a tree lighting ceremony are just a sampling of the event’s activities. In addition, visit Santa and take a wagon ride through town! While you are strolling around the village, stop in the Zoar Store to pick up a Zoar ornament. Cost for Christmas in Zoar is $8/person and children 12 and under are FREE! Hours are Saturday, December 3 10am-6pm and Sunday, December 4 12pm-5pm. www.historiczoarvillage.com

In the quiet town of Dennison, children of all ages can put on their favorite pair of pajamas and hop aboard the Polar Express for a magical journey to the North Pole! This family-friendly reenactment of the award-winning book written by Chris Van Allsburg begins on a decorated train as storytellers read the story aloud. As the train heads to the North Pole, festive elves will entertain with songs, games and activities. Delicious hot chocolate and cookies are specially made by Mrs. Claus and served to the passengers. The final destination is the North Pole where Santa will hop aboard and greet all of the children and give them a keepsake bell. Rides are scheduled for December 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, and 11, 2016.
